This has got to be one of the coolest Digimon at its Ultimate form, I’m talking about Metal Garurumon. Matt was probably one of my favorite Digi-destined character during the first season of the Digimon anime series thus making Gabumon my favorite Digimon – mainly because I find them both cool and well designed during that time.
This review will be all about the second Digivolving Spirits figure release – Metal Garurumon.

I’m really digging the box art for this figure set – Bandai really did a great job in doing a cohesive look for for this set and for that of the first Digivolving Spirits figure for WarGreymon.
The detail print on the Digimon Crest is also present in this box.
The assembly and transformation time for this figure is fairly easier compared to the WarGreymon figure. I really liked how they hid Gabumon and vice-versa.
Important Note: Before you try to transform the figure to its Agumon form, remember to read the supplied manual first so you wont be confused.
Although, when you look at the Metal Garurumon, you couldn’t help but notice Gabumon’s feet hanging on top of Metal Garurumon’s shoulders – I think this is the best way to transform it or to even conceal it.
The metal die-cast parts for this figures are also well painted and well made – well they should be able to make it perfect since the die-cast part is on Metal Garurumon’s face. I liked how the paint apps for this figure is done – it’s very neat and expensive looking.
As shared during my WarGreymon review, you still have to be careful in handling the joints and the moveable parts as you would like to avoid breakage and plastic strains to appear on your figure – you need to look out for the rear leg connectors as that is the thinnest plastic part of this figure.
You need to make sure that you’ve folded all parts correctly as it would be hard for your to close the parts for Gabumon’s transformation – you should avoid gaps on the opened parts.
If my concern with Agumon is how he lost his neck in his transformation, the Gabumon form for me feels like he can’t look up because of his form – he appears to be front heavy that’s why he looks that he tends to lean forward.
Again, since I feel that it has been a while since Bandai released a Digimon figure, highly recommend this line if you’re a Digimon fan! It’s good to know that there are plans for the rest of the first Digimon characters to be produced for the Digimon Spirits line!
