Our review will mainly focus on the Gundam Metal Robot Spirits Liu Bei Gundam (Real Type Ver.) and this is probably one of the finest Gundam figure reviews that I’ve done in a while. I admire the work and the details put into this figure. Without further ado, let’s start our figure review for the Liu Bei Gundam figure!
This review is brought to us by our friends from GreatToys Online. To see more GundamMetal Robot Spirits figures up for sale, you may visit their stores, their new e-commerce website and even their social media sites.
Box Design
The oriental design ornaments were a good fit for the box art because it takes inspiration from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms – which was the main inspiration for the BB Senshi Sangokuden series and where Liu Bei is from. This version is the Real Type version of Liu Bei Gundam figure.
I liked the hint of blues and the artwork treatment they did for the figure itself as if they came out of an inked-art. What’s different about the box orientation is that the figure can be seen from the back of the box.
There’s a small acrylic provision where you can see the figure from the inside of the box – I find this very neat and different.

First Impressions
I admire anything that has to do with culture, for this one – it’s the touch of being oriental. I did a review before for the Ninja Batman and Joker and I had a lot of fun reviewing it because of how it looked. From the box to the figure – this figure set did not disappoint!
I was excited to dig in more on the figure’s details when I was shooting it – that’s how good the figure is for me.
What’s Inside the Box?
The set includes a hefty amount of accessories which includes six replacement wrist parts, Dragon Fang Saber (Garyuutou), Dragon Claw Saber (Souryuutou), Imperial Dragon Sword (Ryuuteiken), the “wing” part and saber holsters and figure display stand – this, of course, includes the Liu Bei Gundam figure itself.
Figure Articulation and Details
I said it in my previous reviews and I’ll say it again, Bandai really is one of the best when it comes to figure articulation. The attention to detail on how the figure would be either poseable or static is well considered in most of their figure releases.
The figure stands at about 14cm which is almost 6-inches in height. The figure alone weighs at about 120.5g mainly because of the metal die-cast parts present on the figure. There is a combination of plastic PVC parts and metal die-cast parts because it’s a Metal Robot figure.
Full articulation from the arms, shoulders, legs, knees, feet, and even the head is present in this figure. I liked how versatile this figure is but you need to be very careful when handling this kind of figure as you don’t want to stress out the parts which may cause it to break.
Ball-joint pegs connect the hand from its forearms and can easily be detached by snapping it off carefully.
The solid colors give the figure a very robotic look. I liked the metallic feel that they’ve added into the head part of the figure even in the weapons. Even the sabers had intricate details. The simplicity of the paint applications gave it a regal and majestic finish.
Overall Rating
I really don’t have much Gundam figure reviews on my site but if I do, these are the good ones that are very obvious for the Liu Bei figure! Need I say that I highly recommend this figure to you guys? Well, if I were you, I’d consider adding this to your collection already!
