This has got to be the biggest box that I’ve reviewed and this is for the S.H.MonsterArts Monster Hunter Liolaeus figure from Bandai. Liolaeus is more commonly know as Rathalos for most Western players of the Monster Hunter game. Liolaeus can be considered the icon of the said series.

Box Design
As mentioned earlier, this is the biggest box I’ve ever unboxed and reviewed. The box design art is very simple as it shows various Liolaeus poses. The back of the box has claw marks that simply shows the figure inside your box.
Remember to always be on the lookout for authenticity seals and stickers to make sure your figures are legitimate and original!
First Thoughts
The figure is quite massive and given this, I expect to see very intricate details for the figure which is not surprising as it does have really good details on it. I’ll be sharing close up photos to showcase the details on the figure’s sculpt and paint apps.
What’s Inside the Box
The set has the essentials for the Rathalos figure which includes a pair of large wings, a pair of small wings, a flame effect, and a figure base and stands.
Figure Articulation and Details
Aside from reviewing the figure’s articulation points, I’m also going to showcase more close up shots of the figure to show the details that were put into making this figure.
Even if the body of the figure is quite massive, it’s quite surprising that the figure has many articulation points. The articulation points can be seen from the face down to the main body of the figure, the arms, legs, and wings.
The tail also has articulation points which means you can pose the tails at various angles.
The paint application for the figure is neatly made, the shades and color gradation were neatly painted as it gives a sort of realism to the figure. The red coloring makes it appear very bloody and menacing.
The figure’s sculpture also had good details as the scales are spot on, most of the parts are pointy to the touch so you need to be careful when handling this figure.
The wings can be interchanged depending on what you want Liolaeus to be posed as – my favorite would be the open flapped wings as he appears to be very majestic and big.
Overall Rating
I will give this figure a solid 10/10 mainly because of the details and effort put into making this Liolaeus figure. If you’re into playing Monster Hunter, this could be a perfect centerpiece near your gaming console!
