Toy Review: S.H.Figuarts Iron Spider

I’ve already made reviews on the first Spiderman figure from the S.H.Figuarts line for the Spiderman Homecoming movie for both his tech and homemade suit, this review will be about the same character but in a different suit appearance – the Iron Spider.

The Iron Spider made its debut appearance in the Spiderman Homecoming movie towards the later part, Tony Stark offered the Young Peter Parker to upgrade his suit but refused to take it.

The suit made its appearance yet again in the last Marvel superhero movie ensemble, the Avengers Infinity War – I have to say, this suit probably is the most interesting one out of the three.

The set includes a new stage act or figure stand from Tamashii Nations which has a cool and useful feature – the compartment for accessories! Even the box art has a comic book feel!

This box art is really cool, it has the elements of the suit and that of the Avengers Infinity War’s movie poster design. If you’ve read my reviews on the other Spiderman figures for both the tech and homemade suit – you’ll notice that I’ve been very particular in complimenting Bandai for the accessories included in the set.

This figure set is no different, this too has a lot of useful accessories – including the mechanical arms a.k.a waldoes.

The figure also features improvement in joints and articulations compared to the earlier Spiderman figure releases. I also liked how the paint apps were made – it feels that they’ve etched out the colors – making it appear to be more textured.

The articulation on the hip, ab-crunch and pelvic area are improved. When this figure was first announced, many thought it would just be a repainted version of the Homecoming Suit version release but Banda Tamshii made an effort to improve the figure for the Iron Spider release.

The figure is slender in appearance which is a very accurate representation of Tom Holland portraying Spiderman for the Homecoming and Avengers movie.

The waldoes for this figure has articulation points and can also be detached from its base.

What I liked about this figure would be its poseability – compared to most of the S.H.Figuarts figures – this is the most versatile when it comes to poses and expressions, mainly because of the interchangeable eyes. I really enjoyed taking photos of this figure, the waldoes also makes everything very interesting.

I would recommend that you add this Iron Spider figure to your collection. Bandai Tamashii Nations also announced other big names from the Avengers Infinity War movie that will have their own SHF figure – Black Widow, Captain America and even Thanos!
